Rainforest Sanctuary Initiative

AshéninkaThis Earth stewardship program ensures the preservation of the rainforest and autonomy of local indigenous peoples. Our goal is to raise global awareness regarding the relevance of these ancestral wisdom traditions for the modern world. Funding for this program offers crucial social equity assistance to regional communities in the form of medical services, primary education, sustainable practices of agro-forestry and the conservation of endangered rainforest.

"The story of the vanishing rainforest would not be complete without addressing the people indigenous to this land. Our dear friend Jose has grown up in the area and has been managing the castaña (brazil nut) concession on the property for eleven years. When I asked how old the castaña trees are, he told me these trees were here before the rainforest existed. To those local to the Rio Las Piedras, time is not linear, myths make up reality, and stories of creation are legendary. These brothers and sisters do us a great service by keeping these ways alive in the collective consciousness. Because of them, we will all be able to “return to the garden."
