On March 19th & 20th, 2011 THOTH hosted a Spring Equinox Event in Asheville, North Carolina. On SaturdayOver 300 people attended this ground-breaking weekend of discussion, sharing, and ceremony. The event started on Saturday, March 19th, with our panel that included our Speakers and Wisdom Keepers - Howard Hangar, Michael Johnson, Peter Kingsley, Oscar Miro-Quesada, Grandmother Red Leaf, Jeff Schmidt as Emcee and Ashley Cooper as our Moderator. The discussion centered around the current world situation and how it affects our world and indigenous people and teachings.

Sunday, March 20th, an inspiring ceremony was held outdoors in Swannanoa, near Asheville, led by Oscar Miro-Quesda with Grandmother Red Leaf. Grandmother Red Leaf offered an individual Water Blessing to all in attendance to honor the Spring Equinox. The gathering was entranced with the accompanying music led by the unique sounds of Imani and joined in by all who brought their drums and rattles. It was mesmerizing to watch - beautiful and inspirational.

Oscar Miro-Quesda closed the ceremony with prayers over the childern, who are our future. It was appropriate then that a child, Kayla Schmidt picked the winners for the Weekend Teaching with Oscar Miro-Quesda and a trip to Peru.  The winners are: Erica Alessio of Washington who won a free trip to the Amazon for the Vine, Vision and Veneration and to Lois Remikis of Illinois who won a tuition free workshop with Oscar as well. A heartfelt Thank You to each of you that participated in this campaign. Watch for details in the fall for another great raffle!
